What Is An SSL Certificate?

An SSL certificate provides an extra layer of security for your custom domain, and allows you to protect sensitive information shared through your Nucleus. It also improves your website's searchability within search engines.

You'll know the difference between a secure site and an insecure site by the URL of whatever site you're visiting. A secure site always begins with https:// whereas an insecure site always begins with http:// (the difference simply being the "s").

SSL is essential for protecting your website, even if your Nucleus doesn't handle sensitive information like credit cards. It provides privacy, critical security, and data integrity for both your Nucleus and your users' personal information.

How Do I Obtain An SSL Certificate?

Once you've successfully pointed your custom domain to your Nucleus, simply reach out to support by clicking on the purple speech bubble in the bottom right corner and tell us you're ready to set up an SSL certificate.

Then, sit back and relax, as we do all the work for you - at no extra cost!

Seriously, that's all there is to it. Just let us know you'd like an SSL certificate, and we'll get one installed for you absolutely free.

NOTE: If you haven't added/installed a custom domain to your Nucleus, you do not need an SSL certificate. Because your Nucleus is using a subdomain (that portion at the beginning of your URL in the address bar when you visit your Nucleus), we will always ensure that your subdomain is secure with an SSL certificate.
